Location of Linkbox+
Linkbox+ is mounted in a suitable place, usually near the valve(s). The included cat.6 cable for connecting the Linkbox+ and valve is 0.6 meters long, but this can be replaced with a standard cat.6 cable (up to 100 meters) if there is a need or desire to place the Linkbox+ at a greater distance from the valve(s). We recommend that Linkbox+ is not installed inside distribution cabinets or other metal cabinets as this can reduce the range of the wireless signals.
Installing Linkbox+ with standard bracket
- Mount the Linkbox+ standard bracket to the wall using the included bracket screws (35 mm long). If alternative screws are used, make sure they do not protrude outside the recessed screw interface on the bracket, as this prohibits proper installation of the Linkbox+.
- Install the cables to the Linkbox+
- 24V DC Power cable
- Valve cable (Cat.6) into the VALVE-port
- Sensor tape (optional) into the 3,5mm Jack-port
- Ethernet/internet cable (optional) into the ETHERNET-port
- 24V DC Power cable
- Attach the Linkbox+ to the Wall Mount Bracket by engaging the "hooks" and pushing the Linkbox+ down, following STEP 1 and STEP 2.
Installing Linkbox+ with Safety Bracket (available in 2024)
Linkbox+ Safety Bracket is an optional bracket and an alternative to the included standard bracket. The Safety Bracket prevents intentional and unintentional disconnecting of the attached cables. The bracket will be available for ordering during 2023.
- Mount the Linkbox+ Safety Bracket to the wall using the included screws. If alternative screws are used, make sure they do not protrude outside the recessed screw interface on the bracket, as this prohibits proper installation of the Linkbox+.
- Connect the power cable (Ø5.5 mm DC male connector), valve cable, sensor tape (optional), ethernet/internet cable (optional), and Modbus cable (optional) to the Linkbox+.
- Assemble the installed cables into their designated location in the cable protector.
- Slide the cable protector along with the cables to the bottom of the Linkbox+.
- Attach the Linkbox+ to the mounting bracket, by engaging 1) the two hooks on the top, 2) the cable protector onto the bracket and 3) the snap joints at the bottom. An audible “click” is heard when the Linkbox+ is properly installed. Inspect the quality of fixation by ensuring the Linkbox+ is flush with the bracket.
- Use a Philips PH1 or PH2 screwdriver to tighten the screw at the bottom of the device. This will firmly lock your device in place in the event of severe impacts or vibrations.
NOTE:
- We do not recommend using double-sided adhesive tape to mount the Linkbox+ as it may cause the Linkbox+ to fall in case of an accidental impact. Double-sided tape is not permitted when the Linkbox+ is used as the Supervised Premise Transceiver (SPT) in an intrusion alarm system.
- The included valve cable is 2 meters long. However, any standard network cable with dual, male RJ45 connectors up to 100 meters may be used.
- Do not place the Linkbox+
- Onto, nearby, or inside metal objects (e.g., water distribution cabinet), as this may cause attenuation and reduction of the wireless signal range.
- Nearby (< 1 m) other radio equipment (router or power cables) or sources of high radio interference levels.
- In any location with temperature and/or humidity beyond the range of permissible limits.
- Outside the premises (outdoors)
Installing Linkbox+ in wall box for hidden cables (Available in 2024)
Linkbox+ docking is an optional bracket and an alternative to the standard bracket included. It is used for installing Linkbox+ in a wallbox for hidden cables. The Linkbox+ docking will be available for ordering during 2023.
NB! Fixed electrical installations must be done by an authorized electrician.
- Install 1.5 size wall box (Elko and Schneider compatibility guaranteed) and run cables to the location of the box.
- Install cables to the Linkbox+ Docking
- Valve cable and ethernet/internet cable (optional)
- Power cable (230V AC)
- Modbus cable (optional)
- Valve cable and ethernet/internet cable (optional)
- Install Docking into the wall box, attach Linkbox+, secure screw at bottom of Docking and connect Sensor tape (optional)
Integrating Linkbox+ with central building control systems
The Linkbox+ can be integrated directly with central building control systems through the Ethernet interface (BACnet IP). Full functionality will be available during Q1 2024.
NB! Only Linkbox+ 4G supports BACnet IP communication.
1. Connect a cat.6 cable to the Ethernet-connector.
For more information, see Waterguard+ connected to central building control systems
Connect Linkbox+ to ventilation systems (Flexit)
Ventilation systems can be connected to and controlled by Linkbox+ 4G via the ModBus-interface. Full functionality will be available during Q1 2024.
- Install cables into the Modbus connector.
- Pull cables after installation to ensure they are properly secured.
For more information, see article Controlling ventilation systems from Linkbox+.
Linkbox+ startup
When all cables are connected (according to chapter 6), the Linkbox+ Power Adapter is connected to a 230V AC power outlet. Linkbox+ will initiate a startup procedure which lasts for a couple of seconds. A audible signal indicates that the unit is ready for use.
NOTE!
- Linkbox+ 4G will automatically connect to internet and Abra cloud service (given proper 4G coverage). Be aware that it might take a couple of minutes before the mobile carrier is found the first time. Outside Norway, it may take up to 15 minutes before the Linkbox+ is online.
- When the Linkbox+ is online for the first time, the system will automatically be updated with the latest available software. This process will take some minutes. A fixed green light in the power icon indicates a connected and updated system.
