Introduction
Waterguard+ is a wireless, automatic water shut-off system that continuously monitors the tap water system in your home by sensing water or high moisture levels in specific locations. The system can detect water using a physically connected water sensor tape or one or more wireless sensors (battery or AC-powered)
The system is developed for use in single-family home tap water systems with a separate water heater (valve on cold water inlet) or apartments with a direct supply of both cold and warm water (0°C to 60°C).
The system does not prevent water leakage but provides effective protection that limits the extent of any leakage. When a water leakage is detected, 1) the water shuts off and 2) the homeowner is notified through an audible alarm, light signals, as well as notifications from the Abralife mobile application.
Detailed information about the water leakage is available in the Abralife mobile application, e.g. which wireless sensor detects water and your options to facilitate the appropriate action. The app can also be used to control the valves remotely (open and close the water supply, e.g. in a cabin)
The system consists of a central unit (called Linkbox+), a range of valves with electric actuators (sizes from 1/2" to 2" (DN15 to DN50)), wireless sensors, water sensor tape, installation brackets, and the Abralife mobile app for receiving alerts and controlling the system remotely. The system is capable of controlling up to two valves and 50 wireless sensors per Linkbox+
The chapters below gives a short introduction to the main components of Waterguard+. The next articles in the installation and user manual provides guidance for installing, testing, activating and operating the system.
Linkbox+
The Linkbox+ is the central unit - the combined heart and brain of the Waterguard+ system - which receives signals from the sensors and make sure the connected valves stop the water supply. Linkbox+ alerts with sound and light if a leakage is detected. By connecting the Abralife app, the home members can control the system and receive alerts if something happens.
Linkbox+ comes in two versions; Linkbox+ 4G og Linkbox+ WiFi. The differences between these two are described in this article. User Manual and additional product information is available on Abralife support pages: Linkbox+ 4G og Linkbox+ WiFi.
Motorized Ball Valve
One or two valves are installed on the tap water supply pipes by an authorized installer. When sensors detect water, or the user requests the valve to close from the Abralife app, the valve shuts off the water supply to reduce the consequences of any water leakage.
NB! If more than 2 valves are required, or pipe dimension is larger than 3/4" (DN20), 230VAC Magnetic Solenoid valves can be used.
WaterSensor+
The wireless sensor detects the presence of water and measures temperature and humidity. When water is detected, wireless signals are sent to Linkbox+ which makes sure the water supply stops. A combined visible and audible alarm is triggered on both the sensor and the Linkbox+.
Abralife Mobile App
The Abralife mobile application allows the user to set up, monitor, and control the status of up to two Valve Units, up to 50 wireless Waterguard WaterSensor+ and Sensor Tape. You can read temperature and moisture, open and close the water supply and receive alarms and other system notifications - no matter where you are.
The app can be downloaded for free where you normally download your mobile apps
Abra - a smart service platform for private homes, housing associations and public buildings
Waterguard+ is a standalone system, but it is also an integrated part of our new, smart service platform for private homes, housing associations and public buildings. The Linkbox+, in combination with the Abralife app, offers connection, control and monitoring of additional systems, products and services related to your home, e.g. ventilation, energy control & monitoring, heating, smoke detection, access control and light control. This platform of products, solutions and services is called Abra.
This manual covers installation and use of Waterguard+ as a standalone water leakage protection system only. If you would like more information on how to expand the system with additional products and services. you can visit our Abra website.
