Our recommended solution for detecting water leakages with automatic water shut-off in single detached homes, townhouses and apartments with separate hot water boilers.
The norwegian building regulation TEK17 §15-5 demands leakage detection and automatic shutdown of the water supply in rooms containing water installations without any floor drain.
The Waterguard valve is installed on the main cold water intake, and wireless sensors are placed in rooms and areas throughout the home as required or needed. The wireless sensors provides extra functionality for monitoring temperature and humidity, and can also be placed nearby water pipes and water taps for reducing the risk of frozen water in your cabin. Whenever water is detected, the system will shut-off the water supply and alert the household with sound, lights and push-notification in the Abralife app.
In addition to notifications, the Abralife app allows the users to continuously monitor the home and control the valve if needed (e.g. close the valve when leaving for a longer period of time).
The wireless sensors is equipped with a coin battery which powers the sensor for 5 years+. The Waterguard valves perform an automatically excersise if not used in 7 days. This ensures a healthy and operational valve.
This is an beneficial and efficient solution for securing your entire home and assets from any major water damage caused by the drinking water distribution system.
This solution also qualifies for insurance discounts (contact your insurance company for details). Most homes built after 2018 have this solution implemented.

WaterSensor+ | The wireless sensors (A) are paired with the Linkbox+ and placed in the kitchen and the laundry room (or other relevant rooms). The kitchen sensor is placed in a sensor bracket mounted on the wall or to the floor
Linkbox+ (WiFi or 4G) | The Linkbox+ (B) is mounted in a suitable place nearby the valve using the included wall bracket. The Cat.6 cable provides power and signals to the valve. The Linkbox+ is powered with the 24VDC power adapter.
Ball Valve (1/2" or 3/4") | The valve (C) is installed by a authorized plumber on the main cold water intake, and connected to the Linkbox+ via the including Cat.6 cable. The cable powers the valve and provides signals to and from the Linkbox+
Sensor Tape | The self-adhesive Sensor Tape is connected to the wireless sensor via the sensor bracket (3,5 mm jack) and brought down to the floor beneath the kitchen sink, dish-washer and other water-connected equipment. Make sure the surface is clean before the tape is fastened. |
Additional information
Before the Linkbox+ (B) is mounted, think about:
- the distance to the valve (the Cat.6 cable included is 2 meters long)
- the distance to an available power outlet for the Linkbox power adapter
Sensors without brackets (In this scenario - Laundry room) should be placed strategically to avoid any unintentional intervention (e.g. during floor cleaning).

Additional products and options
-
One linkbox+ supports up to 50 WaterSensor+. The sensors measures temperature and humidity (in addition to water) and can be strategically placed on shelves or even in walls (when risk of mold etc.)
-
When placed in brackets, external power adapter can be used to power the sensors (instead of battery)
-
Extra Sensor Tape can be connected directly to the Linkbox+ for leakage monitoring by the main intake
- Linkbox+ can connect and control many other smart devices and solutions for your home. For more information, visit our website www.abralife.com
