That depends on the system and the installed valve
Systems with ball valves (Waterguard+)
Waterguard+ comes with ball valves as shown in the picture below. Ball valves are not affected by power outages. This means that the valve will keep its position. If the valve was closed when the outage occured, it will remain closed and if it was open, it will remain open. If needed, the valve can be opened or closed manually without any power. Open the grey rubber cover and use a screwdriver to change the valve position. A position indicator shows the valve position at any time
Systems with Danfoss solenoid valves
Systems with Danfoss solenoid valves comes in 2 versionsr - Normally Open (NO) and Normally Closed (NC).
Normally Open is the most commonly used valve. This valve will remain open when no power is added. When a leakage is detected, the adapter will send power to the valve and it will remain closed until power is lost again.
Normally Closed works in the exact opposite way. The valve need power to remain open. As soon as power is lost, the valve will close.
To find out if you have a NO or NC system, check out the label on the back side of the adapter. You should see the details there. If it is not stated (some older systems did specify this), it is a NO system.
It is possible to change from NO to NC and vice versa. See the videos below for instructions:
